The standing desk problem

A normal desk only has to hide cables. A standing desk has to move them. If the power strip sits on the floor and every cable stretches upward, one height change can pull a charger loose.

Best setup order

  1. Place the desk at standing height.
  2. Route every cable with the longest required movement first.
  3. Mount the power strip under the desktop if possible.
  4. Bundle only cables that move together.
  5. Test the full height range before tightening clips.

Common mistake

Do not make cable bundles too tight. A clean cable run that pulls on a monitor, dock, or power brick is worse than a slightly visible cable with enough slack.
